October 1, 2017 Morning Worship

As Fall tries to make its annual comeback, members and guests of Vine Street Baptist gathered to sing and study God’s Word.

The service began with Deacon Joe Gross reading Psalm 150 and saying a prayer.  Associate Pastor of Worship Jacob Hatcher led the song 10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord), then everyone spent a few minutes greeting one another.

Senior Pastor Spencer Harmon gave several announcements to continue the time together:

  • Souper Sunday tonight at 6:00pm
  • Pre-Service Prayer Meeting, led by a pastoral assistant, will start meeting next Sunday morning at 9am.
  • Business Meeting next Sunday evening.
  • Family Farm Day on October 21.

Spencer said a pastoral prayer for several concerns, then Co-Worship Leader Jaime Hatcher sang a special arrangement of His Eye Is on the Sparrow while the ushers collected the offering.  Jaime then led the gathered in congregational singing.

  • The Heart of Worship
  • Revelation Song

Today’s sermon concludes the sermon series called Why?  (Due to a technical malfunction of the equipment, the audio was not recorded.)

After the sermon, Pastor Spencer came forward to lead the body during the Lord’s Supper.  At the end of this part of worship, the congregation stood and sang All Creatures of Our God and King during a time of reflection. Spencer closed the service with an invitation for anyone to speak to a pastor after the service about church membership, becoming a Christian, or to discuss today’s sermon. Brandon read the benediction then dismissed the group.
