October 13, 2013 AM Worship

In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.” Isaiah 25:9

Today’s service opened with Deacon Wally Jeffries reading Psalm 19:7-14, then he said a prayer. Worship Pastor Chris Wells lead the congregation in contemporary arrangements of some classic hymns.

  • Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
  • Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee

Wells, who recently toured parts of Ohio and Kentucky with a traveling singing ensemble, welcomed everyone to Vine Street this morning. He expressed his thankfulness for this body of believers’ warmth and testimony, having seen different types of churches over the past week. He encouraged everyone to take time and greet one another in a time of fellowship.

After several minutes of hugs and handshakes, Pastor Ben presented several announcements

Pastor Ben also brought to remembrance a number of church members who are home-bound, and encouraged everyone to pray for them and check in on them from time to time. With that, Pastor Ben said a pastoral prayer, then Mickie Bainter read 1 Peter 5:1-5. Wells led the gathered in additional songs.

  • Jesus Paid It All
  • Our Song From Age to Age

A prayer over the offering was said by Deacon Joe Gross, then the congregation sang a new song, Not in Me, while the offering was collected.

Pastor Ben brought the next  message in the Exodus sermon series. The full audio can be heard by clicking on the date link below, or right-click and select “Save As” to save the file to your computer.  Click on the scripture reference to follow along with the reading.
