October 29, 2017 Morning Worship

Fall finally decided to stick around for a while, but that didn’t keep members and guests of Vine Street Baptist Church from worshiping today.

Today’s service started when Senior Pastor Spencer Harmon read Psalm 32:1-7 and said a prayer.  Jacob and Jaime Hatcher led the song Victory in Jesus while playing their guitars. Jacob welcomed everyone then encouraged the gathered to greet one another.

After several minutes where everyone shook hands, hugged one another and asked how they were doing, Spencer returned to the platform and gave a few announcements.

  • Fifth Sunday Hymn Sing – 6:00pm
  • Trunk or Treat this Tuesday – space still available for additional cars.

Spencer said a pastoral prayer, then the ushers collected the offering while Jacob introduced a new song. Everyone joined in when they were comfortable, and certainly sang aloud with the next songs.

  • Death Was Arrested
  • The Old Rugged Cross
  • A Mighty Fortress is Our God

Spencer stepped up to the pulpit and delivered today’s message.

Today’s sermon continues the sermon series through 2nd Corinthians. The full audio can be heard by clicking on the date link below, or right-click and select “Save As” to save the file to your computer.  Click on the scripture reference to follow along with the reading.

After the sermon, the congregation stood and sang Before the Throne of God Above during a time of reflection. Spencer closed the service with an invitation for anyone to speak to a pastor after the service about church membership, becoming a Christian, or to discuss today’s sermon. Spencer read a benediction from Jude 24-25 then dismissed the group.
