October 8, 2017 Morning Worship

A night of thunder, lightening and rain could not keep members and guests of Vine Street Baptist Church from arriving early for prayer, attending Sunday School classes and fellowship, and to gather together in worship.

The service began with Senior Pastor Spencer Harmon reading Isaiah 40:25-31 and saying a prayer. Worship Pastor Jacob Hatcher led everyone in singing Your Grace is Enough, then everyone spent time greeting one another in fellowship.

Spencer returned to the platform to give several announcements about the week and month ahead:

  • Person of Jesus study continues tonight with Josh Bertsch leading the study
  • Business Meeting tonight after the Bible study
  • Women’s Bible Study this week.  FMI: Taylor Harmon
  • Pal-o-Mine meets this Wednesday
  • Family Farm Fest is right around the corner
  • Trunk or Treat again this year. FMI: Jaime Hatcher

After saying a pastoral prayer, the ushers collected the offering while Jacob led in more singing.

  • The Solid Rock
  • Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing
  • Not in Me

Eden McCarthy read today’s sermon text, then Spencer delivered today’s message.

Today’s sermon returns to the sermon series through 2nd Corinthians. The full audio can be heard by clicking on the date link below, or right-click and select “Save As” to save the file to your computer.  Click on the scripture reference to follow along with the reading.

After the sermon, the congregation stood and sang Just As I Am during a time of reflection. Spencer closed the service with an invitation for anyone to speak to a pastor after the service about church membership, becoming a Christian, or to discuss today’s sermon. Spencer read the benediction then dismissed the group.
