July 3, 2015 Morning Worship

Clouds and a little rain could not keep members and guests away from Vine Street Baptist Church, where they gathered to fellowship, to worship, and — most importantly — to learn about God.

The service started when Deacon Chandler Bainter read Psalm 12 and said a prayer. Worship Leaders Jacob and Jaime Hatcher sang song and the congregation sang along:

  • Because He Lives
  • Grace Greater Than All Our Sins

Jacob welcomed everyone and encouraged all to greet one another in a time of fellowship.  Pastor Spencer Harmon later brought everyone back together and delivered a few announcements:

  • New sermon series starts today: John 3:16 this week, Psalm 23 next week
  • Pot Luck Fellowship Lunch after morning worship
  • Thank you from the Cook Family and the Hendricks Family for the calls, prayers and visits over the past several weeks.

Pastor Spencer gave a pastoral prayer over the health concerns of members and preparing everyone for the upcoming sermon.  Before the gathered sang more songs, former pastor Ben Dockery was introduced and welcomed to the stage. Ben thanked those who had prayed for their transition to a new city, new school, new church and new job, then gave same encouraging words to the Pastor Search Committee and the church as a whole for the search process that ended with the calling of Spencer.  Ben then read Romans 8:31-39 and said a prayer. The congregation sang again before the offering was given.

  • How Deep the Father’s Love For Us
  • In Christ Alone

Deacon Joe Gross prayed for the offering, then the Hatchers played while the offering was collected.
